TABLA TRIVENI – an hour long tabla extravaganza on May 17, 2009, from 5:30PM to 6:30PM

Tabla Triveni is a tabla trio presentation composed by the eminent tabla-guru of India, Pandit Divyang Vakil, and performed by three tabla artists, Loren Oppenheimer, Sejal Kukadia and Michael Lukshis. Both Loren and Michael are two of the country's most accomplished classical tabla players of non-Indian background. Sejal is one of the only female classical tabla players in the United States. Accompanying the trio is Misha Fatkiev on the guitar.

The approximately hour long tabla presentation is made up of various traditional compositions of tabla, such as the peshkar, kayda, rela, tukada, gat and chakradaar. Each composition has unique and distinctive musical properties which set them apart from the others, and so Tabla Triveni is filled with a broad range of energetic and exciting elements.
